The Spirit of Balance: Simpson's ATS

Posted by Trevor Plaggemeyer on

Most all Cadillacs emit a sense of beauty. I would personally go as far to say elegance. This has been a staple of the brand's presence forever. However, what we have here is something a little bit more special. This machine is beautiful not only in it's classy road presence, but also the power driving those rear tires. Now when I note, "driving those rear ties," I should really mention the smoke show this thing is set up to make. The Cadillac might be a smooth cruiser, but the humble appearance is about to hurt some feelings on the Florida streets when David Simpson, the owner of the car, opens up all 440whp.

This is one of the reasons we at ZZP love the ATS. Anyone who's driven one of these relatively small cars to their related Cadillac family, can speak to the nimble, racing feeling they provide. This platform is so much more of a driver's vehicle than we have ever seen roll out of the Cadillac factory. I'd even go as far to say, it's nothing short of an enthusiast's dream.

Ever wondered what building an LTG engine with everything ZZP has to offer inside of it? Well, you're right, it's something you want. This car was fully built here, and no stone was left unturned to make sure this car was ready to make healthy, reliable numbers. Listed at the bottom of this article you can find the full breakdown, and the numbers, along with the fan-favorite dyno graph.

One of best parts about this build is the balance. Simpson's set up is no slouch, but it's also within means to be a reliable daily driver and weekend warrior. This is a great example of a balanced build, with plenty of room to keep going for those that can't shake the itch for more power.

This build was another example of a car that came from far away to be built in-house at ZZPerformance. Simpson lives in Florida, so this is most likely the only time you'll find pictures of the car with snow around it. We are happy to support Simpson with his goals for the build, and appreciate how upfront he was with his plans. Rather than plugging in one mod at at a time, Simpson went straight for a built motor and big power all at once. Of course, this is a luxury many can't afford, but it's a super awesome feeling to get in after the car is done under the knife. As I am writing this the car is on a trailer back down to Florida, and we're just as excited to see Simpson's first reaction of his new monster of a car. If you own an LTG platform, read the mod list carefully, and take notes. This is a good one - Well done Simpson.
