HV3 High Velocity Intake Insert

The High Velocity Upper Intake Manifold Insert replaces the factory plastic runners in the upper intake manifold found in FWD Series II and III 3800's. All you do is simply remove the upper intake (leaving the throttle body attached), pull out the stock runners, set the HV insert in the intake and bolt it back down! 30HP in 30 minutes!
By changing the intake tuning we are able to achieve performance numbers previously unheard of in the L36. In short we gained 9 peak WHP and 30 WHP at 6000rpm.
When coupled with ER rockers and our High Velocity Throttlebody the performance surpasses dyno #'s of cam'd L36's not using our insert.
More torque - The HP gains of the old HV2 were quite amazing. The only issue was a slight loss in low end torque below 2000rpm. The revised design has a slightly longer runner and a smoother transition to the head ports so the torque loss is near zero compared to the stock runners!
More reliable - The HV3 does not require RTV, cannot be seen by anyone looking at your external engine, and it comes with a new intake gasket. Installing the new HV3 actually improves the reliability of your car by replacing a potentially worn out gasket. Because it sits entirely inside the intake, there are zero sealing issues.
Does not work on factory GTPs or L67s or F-body. FWD L36/L26 only.

Great product

Being an amateur that I am. I found that installing this part did cause some frustration. Not because of the actual part but because of how the engineers at Chevy designed the intake. Once you get the intake off it’s just a simple drop in part. Remove the old runners and just plop it in. I did feel an increase in performance

Working as Intended

Part quality was as advertised, with safe packaging and great delivery time. All of the components listed are exactly the same as pictured above, which is very nice. Dropped in as advertised, no hiccups, qualms, or issues, and had the bonus effect of acting as a reasonable enough excuse to finally mess around and clean up my vehicle’s intake plenum and lower intake manifold. Overall, took around six and a half hours to finish everything, but that’s with a novice wrench-turner, a couple of sockets and extensions, and a vague idea of what to do to put the parts in. Overall, the parts worked as expected, and I will be purchasing and installing other items from this built by and sold through this company in the future!

Money well spent!

I purchased and installed this part some weeks ago, along with the ZZP intake plenum and I sure am pleased with the results! It wasn't hard at all to install all the new parts and I have had no issues. It's a great way to wake up a naturally aspirated 3800 just a little bit and is worth every penny. The actual piece that ZZP has made looks like a simple block of plastic that sits inside the intake, but it opens it up to let more air in than the stock runners, and feels much more durable and definitely seems less restrictive.

Good replacement

This insert was very easy to install and fits perfect. Seems to make good power too.
