Safely increasing cam lift or maximum engine RPM will require new valve springs. For example on the 3800 we use LS1 "beehive" valve springs which means that when running new springs you will also need our ZZP retainers.

These 150# springs are a culmination of our dedication to optimizing the 3800 valvetrain and increasing horsepower since the early 2000s. With manufacturing and parts availability in today’s automotive industry, now more than ever we needed a valve spring you could rely on and pair with our ZZP retainers, ZZP 1.65 rockers, ZZP pushrods, ZZP lifters and complete line of RPM camshafts for optimal go fast not broke results. Common with other spring options on the market, the seat pressure fades. Our testing found these springs to be the closest to installed seat pressure after use, making them less prone to fatigue than other 3800 valve spring on the market.

Why install valve springs?

When boost is increased, that boost is pushing on the back side of the intake valves, therefore your actual valve spring pressure is reduced. So when you add valve springs it allows you to rev higher and increase your boost without losing any performance to valve float. If you are boosted and want to shift above 6000rpms these springs will be a perfect solution for you.
