Description

The ZZP LNF turbo PCM brings the performance of your turbocharged Cobalt to the level that the factory should have released it with. Buying from ZZP ensures nearly instant response on emailed questions, fast turn around, prompt core refunds, and a phone number you can call if you need to. The ZZP PCM is backed by a company you can trust. Here at ZZP, we own our own chassis dyno ensuring the maximum performance on our products.

With just a tune, we can add about 40whp and 80 ft lbs. Typical dyno numbers are 280whp and 320-340 ft lbs depending on what clutch the car has. If the car has a stock clutch we reduce the torque a little to keep it from slipping.

More Info

-The stock 5 speed transmission is a "F35". We offer our "F40" 6 speed conversion, if you have it, the PCM will need to be tweaked to correct the speedometer.
-First gear boost reduction helps to maintain traction.
-We can program the PCM for your stock sensors or the optional GM Stage 1 sensors. The third option is that we can include both sensors/pigtails and have the PCM setup for them. This requires cutting the factory wires and soldering in the new connectors. The last choice is for plug/play adapters along with the 3 bar sensors. These do not require cutting or soldering. Simply plug them in to the existing connectors and you are ready to go. We highly recommend installing the GM Stage 1 sensors along with the PCM because the factory sensors have been known to fail on stock boost levels, so when our 1.0 file increases the boost the chance of the factory sensors failing is higher.

-The stock air box holds the MAF sensor, an aftermarket intake will relocate the MAF in it, and for an aftermarket blow off valve to blow off to the atmosphere without the car running poorly the MAF should be relocated in the lower charge tube as a "Blow Through" design. We have a file and a lower charge pipe to make it simple for you to do this. We can not guaranty files for aftermarket MAF tubes that are not our off the shelf units.

-We can make the boost come in more smooth to help clutch life, or if you already have an upgraded clutch, then we can have the boost come in quicker. The stock clutch can not handle a full hard hitting boost PCM file without slipping.

1.0 files do not come with any tech or programming support for changes or is
sues outside 1.0 tuning parameters.

Technical Support: We offer technical support via remote diagnostics when remote tuning via HPTuners. This option is for those who are experiencing problems with their vehicle; ex. custom setups, poorly running vehicle, codes that you have attempted to fix and are still present. Tuning cannot fix physical problems with a vehicle, however, our vast experience with these vehicles over the years has given us insight and we can assist you with the data presented to us. The $100 deposit covers additional troubleshooting if your vehicle requires it. This deposit may be refunded/ partially refunded if minimal troubleshooting is required. If the amount of technical support required is deemed excessive, additional troubleshooting charges may apply.

Core Charge: We can ship you a used or new ECU core that you can simply swap with your factory ECU. If we ship you a used ECU (and TCU (automatic trans)) core then you would have to pay a refundable core charge which is returned to you when you ship us back your original core(s). Cores must be unlocked and in working condition. If a returned core is deemed un-useable we will inform you, send the core back, and you will not be refunded. If you want a brand new GM ECU core, you are charged for it with us not expecting you to return one. If you returned your stock used core we would offer you an in store credit for it.

If you want to avoid paying a core charge you can either ship us your core(s) to flash and return, or if you have HPTuners we can email you a file to upload yourself. If you select "I'm sending in my core first" your order will be held until we receive your core(s) to flash. When choosing this option you must send us YOUR CORE from YOUR vehicle, not a random PCM from a junkyard or eBay. There are advantages to sending in your core, like not having to do a security relearn, no crank relearn, etc. If you send us a core that is not out of your vehicle it will likely not work correctly.

If your car has an automatic transmission, we would need your ECM and TCM cores so we can flash both units OR you would need to select "Refundable ECU and TCU core charge". Please ship it/them to "2450 28th St. SW, Wyoming, MI 49519" Attn your ZZP order #.

Saturn Sky Note: We require your core to be read/tweaked and returned to you. Core charge option is not available for Saturn models.

Custom LNF Swaps: This option is for anyone looking to tune a vehicle that did not come with an LNF originally. You MUST choose this option if you are tuning a tube chassis car, sand rail, LNF engine retro fit into an older chassis, etc. Do not try to cheap out and purchase a tune from another year/make/model, we will find out and will not continue the tuning process if so. Be aware that when you purchase and start the remote tuning process you are purchasing our tuning services, not diagnostic services. The tune will be put together assuming you have all necessary sensors, boost lines, vacuum lines, etc hooked up correctly. Once you and the tuner have verified that the car is running well and you're both happy with the tune you have 7 days to request any changes. Once that 7 days has run up you can re-purchase our tuning services for your custom swap for $200. When doing a custom setup, there may be extra hardware (sensors, wiring, etc) needed for setting up the tune correctly. These things will be pointed out by your tuner if they are missing and will be required to move forward with the tuning. We will not cover these parts nor do we always carry those required sensors/parts.

Email me a file: This option requires access to HPTuner software. After placing your order, you will need to read the current file and send it to us for editing. We will then email you a new file. **you will get a detailed email with full instructions to complete this process shortly after placing your order. You will need to email your stock file to Becky.M@zzperformance.com and Matt@zzperformance.com.

Add Interface or Add Interface & Laptop: We can send you a programming interface and cable which we supply with instructions.  It will allow you to read your stock file, email it to us for modification, we email you back a modified tune, you upload it to your ECU, and send us a scan, then if additional tweaks are needed, we can modify the file again to perfect it.  When tuning is done, you can return the interface/laptop, and you are refunded the interface/laptop core charge (deposit).  Since you are keeping your stock PCM core, this will retain your remote start feature.  If you do not rent our laptop, you will need a Windows based laptop to read/write your ECU.  The advantage of using ours is that it comes pre-configured with the tuning and scanning software required so you can simply charge the laptop, power it up and get started immediately.  We can assist you if you have any questions or custom tuning requirements.  If you choose to keep the tuning interface and/or the laptop, that's fine, we just wont refund the core charge.  Core charges are based on 14 days and there will be additional charges if cables or laptops are kept for longer periods. HPTuners interface comes with 2 credits to license your car.

FAQ

1. Can I change your PCMs with my tuning software?
Yes. We do not lock our PCMs nor our tune files. We will tune for your car and the listed modifications, and continue to remote tune to dial in your tune. However, if you want to modify our file after the tuner says it is finished, that is on your own accord and we will not assist.

2. How much HP will I gain?
HP varies from car to car. On most setups you can expect to gain 35 WHP. Our PCMs are setup to deliver the maximum level of safe HP for a given set of modifications.

3. Will this PCM void my warranty?
Our PCMs are not distinguishable from stock by the dealer.

4. What if I don't like something about my PCM?
Cars of the same year and type can vary. If you receive your PCM and don't like something with it; simply ship the PCM back within 30 days and we'll make the change at no charge. All you'll owe is the return shipping money.

5. Will I pass emissions with this PCM?
Yes, if you passed before this tune, you will pass after this tune. This PCM does not alter emissions.

6. How strict are you on the core charge?
If you have to send back your PCM because of an issue, or are in process of checking something out with the PCM, or working with us on adjusting the file with your tuning software, we will gladly allow you extra time to return your core.
If you have an issue with your PCM or install, the core return allowance of 14 days will be extended until the issue is resolved.

7. What octane do I need to run?
Premium gas is required.

8. Can you dyno tune my car?
Yes! We have a chassis dyno, that we operate 6 days a week. Normal dyno tuning is the cost of our PCM (if yours is stock) plus $115 to $300 depending on the time and number of dyno pulls required to dial in your setup.

9. Do you recommend any particular setups?
Yes.
We would recommend our LNF silicone intake, and our LNF Downpipe, ZZP intercooler with pipes, and ZZP valve springs.

10. What is 1st gear boost reduction?
This feature limits the boost in 1st gear to aid in traction and launching.

11. How do I perform a security relearn?
For the seed key relearn, this is the procedure:

You can open and close the door- It doesn't matter. You will need to get in and out since you need to push in the clutch.

1. Depress the clutch and try to start the car. If it does not turn over, let off, but leave the key in the run position. The security light should be lit up on the dash.
2. Wait 10 minutes(you can open the door and get out). The security light on the dash will turn off after 10 minutes.
3. Turn the key off for 5 seconds, then depress the clutch and try to start the car. If it does not turn over, let off, but leave the key in the run position. The security light should be lit up on the dash.
4. Wait 10 minutes(you can open the door and get out). The security light on the dash will turn off after 10 minutes.
5. Turn the key off for 5 seconds, then depress the clutch and try to start the car. If it does not turn over, let off, but leave the key in the run position. The security light should be lit up on the dash.
6. Wait 10 minutes(you can open the door and get out). The security light on the dash will turn off after 10 minutes.
7. Turn the key off for 5 seconds, then depress the clutch and try to start the car. The car should start on this attempt.

If you are having knock (KR) related problems during your remote tuning sessions we recommend using Boostane. Boostane is a safe octane booster that actually works, unlike the generic "octane boosters" found at your local auto parts stores. We have noticed large spikes in fuel inconsistency since the beginning of the pandemic, so sometimes it's hard to point out if there's an issue with the car being knock limited or just the quality of fuel. While tuning if you add Boostane and notice the KR subside, then your problem lies in your fuel. If you add Boostane and it has no noticeable effect on KR, then it is likely that your car has a mechanical issue that is causing and/or being sensed as knock.
