Easy install, band clamps are so much better than "U" clamps. Nice deep sound, the car breaths so much better, an easy 20+ HP gain at mid rpm range, top end is much better. Have already taken a couple of "sports cars" to the wood shed, gotta love it.
That was easy. Not a Magnaflow, though.
First, I'm most impressed with the fact that this bolted on and "just worked" perfectly with the ZZP 3" downpipe. I've dealt with aftermarket exhaust systems before and frequently there's something that leaks or needs to be bent into shape or rubs on the car or some other needless problem. I am happy to say that this exhaust exhibits none of that. Everything bolted up nicely and while the tip was a little big and show off-y, I've grown to like it. I've had it on the car for a couple of weeks now and in general, I do like the sound. There is NO awful 3800 rasp to speak of and the tone is very mellow, BUT there is an appreciable amount of highway drone. It's not awful, and it's certainly better than many other 3800 exhausts I've heard on Grand Prixs, but it's something to be aware of. Otherwise, I have gotten compliments from people on the sound. It also appears that at some point, ZZP stopped using a Magnaflow muffler. This has some "ZZP" branded muffler, I have no idea who makes it, but it is a straight through design that seems to be a generic MF clone. They really need to edit the item description. A final note is to NOT use the included gasket. Unlike the very nice band clamps they include, the gasket is hot garbage. Throw it away and buy the Remflex 8038 kit, which comes with two 3" gaskets, which I used for both the rear Plog to DP and DP to exhaust flanges. Aside from those minor complaints, I am VERY happy with the exhaust and I'd much rather bolt this on in my driveway than go to an exhaust shop.
Nice exhaust, has good sound but not too loud. I'm not too fond of the tip. It is hard to tell in the picture how big the tip actually is. Its a little too big for my taste, kinda ricer. I'm not trying to bash its a great exhaust system, if I could make any changes it just be a smaller tip for the look I prefer.
A little louder than I was hoping for, but certainly not too loud. It actually makes my stock 3800 sound kinda badass, even around 3000-4000 rpm it stays deep. Very easy install, bends were dead on, so were the hanger locations. One pipe end looked like it had been dropped hard and I had to smack it with a plastic hammer and tweak on it with some channel locks (it's hard to bend even a little!), but it wasn't bad, maybe 10 minutes and I had it sliding in easy. Took about 2 hours to install with a new catted down pipe also, wasn't rushing, and did most of the work myself, with a friend passing me tools. Really didn't expect it to fit like a glove, but it did. Very impressed with the sound and look. Performance gain is quite noticeable going from factory u-bend to this. Very happy.
