Brake Cooling Scoops

Developed by John Powell on GM's Time Attack Cobalt, these are designed to grab air from under the car and direct it towards the rotor/caliper/spindle, which will help cool them during hard braking conditions.  A must have for any road racing Delta chassis car.

They mount directly to the control arms.

Solid solution and part for Ecotec Delta platform

I had been eyeing these scoops for a while as my Chevy HHR eats up brake discs like they're cupcakes (regular driving, but german Autobahn is part of it with 80-100mp/h speeds occurring for longer periods of time). I got them gifted to me. This will help prevent warping. So I'm not using these for a race car, but a road car with a problem. The scoops are bent from 3000series aluminum (sturdy). Sadly there were some heavier scratches (on the backside) from the bending process (at Powell race parts) and some "storage shelf" scratches (Powell or ZZP, who knows..). Not the end of the world, as aluminum will scratch easily and these were handmade by someone at Powell Race Parts. Emphasis on "Race(car)", not "Show(car)". The scratches they have could be polished out if one wants these scoops to be perfect aestethically (not that the racers would care). Once mounted you don't see them, so I'm not going to care about that and they're handmade (watercut, but bending isn't automated), so I'm okay.. My package arrived without the instructions, which scared me for a bit, as online resources about mounting these are scarce. ZZP customer service got back to me and hooked me up with the instructions document up on the next available work day (I had written them on Saturday after work hours and got the response on Monday). All in all it's a fun and solid addition to your Delta platform Ecotec control arm. This will definitely fit the Chevy Cobalt & Chevy HHR. I'm pretty sure it would fit the Pontiac G5 and Saturn Ion as well. Just look up the compatibility of replacement control arms for your vehicle and if the Cobalt and HHR are listed these will work. They can be mounted with the control arm in the car, but getting the car higher up onto jackstands or a lift would make it a lot easier. With the control arm off.. It's almost too easy to install. There is a little bit of wiggle room as to how high or low you want the scoops and according to the instructions these can be mounted to the steel control arms as well (HHR: FE3--< Steel control arm, FE5 --

So simple but works great

I got these a couple of weeks ago directly from John Powell and man what an improvement. Reduces brake fad and maintains a solid brake feel. If you do any type of lapping or driving on a road course this is a cheap mod that is totally worth it!
