ZZP W-Body Coilovers

Here at ZZPerformance we continue to push the limits of even our oldest platforms, we continue to develop and produce new parts well past the last car rolls off the line, which is why we're so excited to bring our new ZZP W-Body coilovers to market. 
With the knowledge gained working on previous projects we decided to create our own line of ZZPerformance coilovers. Through extensive testing we have found an optimal spring rate, 6.6kg front and 6.6kg rear. Perfect for the daily driver or those looking to track their w-body car. This spring weight has been highly debated within the community for years; however, after testing various spring rate setups, a heavier spring (like the 8k) made for an uncomfortable ride and created handling imbalances. Competitors Coilovers include a 5kg front spring in their kit, ours being a touch heavier benefits performance while not hindering ride quality. Ride height adjustability is done via the shock body, meaning spring pre-load is preset for optimal performance. We went with a long front spring and shock combo to retain suspension travel, something that many coilovers lack. These coils adjust anywhere from stock height all the way down to be able to tuck tire, meaning you can dial in your ride height for any desired stance.

As many of you are very familiar with the current BC product offering you will get all those features and then some with our ZZPerformance coilovers. ZZP coilovers weigh less, and include a custom top plate instead of reusing the stock plates. We moved the sway bar attachment to the body of the strut to better control load. We offer double the warranty of BC's, 2 years against any defect. This shows how much we stand behind our product. Our coilovers also come with more dampening adjustment range so you can fine tune for your specific build and desired ride quality. Our coils were built with every climate in mind; being based in Michigan we know how much the elements affect suspension parts, so we made sure the welds are up to our standards as well as the powder coated lower collars are reinforced to withstand rust. All other components are anodized, or powder coated to resist rust, we do this because we know nothing is more frustrating than your coilovers getting seized after one winter of daily driving. No one knows W-bodies more than us, and we know that these coilovers showcase that.

Note: 04-07 Grand Prix will need to swap to a 97-03 style lower control arm (found here) and sway bar setup to run these coilovers. Will also fit LS4 cars. Grand Prix GXP, Impala SS, and Monte Carlo SS cars will need to verify they have the 97-03 style control arm and sway bar setup.

I watched the Vlog by Bo and Tyler on the installation of the W-Body coilovers. I was crushed immediately by the revelation that the '04+ didn't receive the latest edition coilover base with the sway bar arm improvement. Also the factory preset that the previous vlog by Tyler alone said dont touch the preset adjustment. And this vlog with Bo they immediately dove in on changing such. I have no problem with this, however I need very precise method of how Bo measures the coilover body, exactly where did he measure from and exactly to. My reason is that the lock ring wasn't snugged tight on one of my parts and naturally it didnt take me long to notice I had a 1/4" of free play on the spring. So I measured the other closely and duplicated it. So now I am advised to tighten up two spanner wrench thicknesses. Ok fine I'm rolling with this. But exact measurement points from where to where and the distance would be reassuring. Thanks, say are you planning to give me the new base part w/the exta arm? Or is this "to bad so sad"? I think you might consider editing the intro of the vlog with Bo. It has left me feeling disappointed. I waited six months for those awesome things.

Quality is there

6th gen monte carlos do not use the same rear top hat as other w bodies, if you have one the only way you can install the rears is if you reuse your factory tophat. Not a big deal but something definitely should have been said or a a different tophat for monte carlos should have been made considering all the research and knowledge they have behind these cars. It made me upset seeing they included monte carlos to the application because it was a clear assumption on zzp's end. Other than that zzp coilovers are very well made, have lots of different adjustments in height, dampening, and camber The spring rate they chose isnt too stiff and still allows suspension to travel. Definitely worth the $ considering there isnt much other options for well made coilovers for our cars.

AWESOME COILOVERS

Love them on my 2007 gxp! Ride amazing and makes the car more responsive handling with an amazing stance. Easy to install. Just need to get 01-03 gtp style lower control arms and sway links and good to go!

Great Coilovers

They arrived in one piece and the install went smoothly, they seem to be quite good quality, the anodizing and powder coating is really nice. I've had them on for more than 5000 miles an they're still working great - no noticeable difference in their performance between new and now. Really happy with the handling improvement as well as my cars new stance - about a 2.5" drop in the front and 1 3/4" in the rear - see my picture for the difference. Currently I'm running them 9 clicks from softest on the front and 12 clicks from softest on the rear which seems to be a decent setting for daily driving. That plus front and rear sway bars makes the car feels like it's on rails now. Only downside is that I did run into a little bit of coil binding with them at their factory preload settings - but that's easy to fix with a small adjustment.
