ZZP cams have custom designed lobes to maximize the performance of your 3800 engine, ZZP cams make more HP at the same duration and lift than other brands. We hold every record in the 3800 market and have done extensive research on ramp rates and cam profiles, more so than any vendor on the planet. You can know with confidence that these are the very best grinds available in the market.


The VS-RPM cam is designed for use on totally stock heads and can be used with all stock components up to 6k rpm. It is recommended to upgrade valve springs to increase performance and allow shifting over 6000 where peak power is made. PCM programming recommended. If the engine has less than 100k miles, then the stock valve springs can work if you keep the shift point at 6000rpm. However we recommend at least the 90# valve springs and Retainers that we offer.

2021 Update: Introducing the XP-RPM cam! The XP-RPM cam is the same XP you know and love with tighter tolerances for better high rpm valvetrain stability. Standard camshafts in the market have lobe flutter causing power losses in higher rpms. In normal circumstances this doesn't affect performance but, in some vehicles,, over 6k rpm we see variation in measured dyno HP. Measuring the base circle on a standard camshaft, we can see several thousandths of height variation. The valve should be closed but minor rises on the base circle can create valve harmonics and minor opening when the valve should be closed. The RPM version of our camshafts are ground to tolerances reducing base circle variation from several thousandths to a ten thousandth. The result is a more stable valvetrain with more HP above 6k rpm in the 3800. 

2021 Update - 2: After the huge success of our XP-RPM cam we have now introduced our VS-RPM cam! Made with the same tighter tolerances of the XP-RPM this VS-RPM is the perfect cam for your street car.

The X-P HOT cam is designed for supercharged or nitrous applications on 96 and up GM 3800s. The XP cam produces higher WHP and torque numbers than any cam grind currently available (that can be used with stock heads). Look for gains of 40-55 hp depending on your car's current configuration. We highly recommend running 136# Comp Cams valve springs, ZZP Modified retainers, LS7 lifters, ZZP Custom Pushrods, (To determine what length pushrod you will need. We recommend using the 'Lifter Preload' method that can be found on the lifter page. We also recommend purchasing the ZZP Pushrod Length Checker to assist with this.) Rollmaster double timing chain, Extra thick front cover gasket, and Machined oil pump cover. The XP is popular for top swaps and GT bottom end builds. You can run a smaller pulley with it than you can the VS. Peak power is 200rpm higher (than VS).

The NIC cam serves 2 purposes, one is a lopey idle, the other is being able to run small pulleys non-intercooled. It has lots of overlap which results in a slight loss in torque but allows smaller pulleys without KR than other grinds. It can be used with an intercooler and on stock heads as lift is lower than the XP. It does well at high rpm and makes power past 6500. We highly recommend running a 136# Comp Cams valve spring, Modified retainers, LS7 lifters, ZZP Custom Pushrods, (To determine what length pushrod you will need. We recommend using the 'Lifter Preload' method that can be found on the lifter page. We also recommend purchasing the ZZP Pushrod Length Checker to assist with this.) Rollmaster double timing chain, Extra thick front cover gasket, Machined oil pump cover, and PCM programming are required. O2 sensors don't like overlap so a ZZP NIC tune should be used or if tuning yourself wideband on the dyno. Idle Sound Clip.

The XPZ cam was developed by ZZP to maximize the HP of a 3800 using an M90 in an all out build. Normally larger cams keep making more power at higher and higher rpms, the 3800 with an M90 isn't like that. The M90 is a positive displacement blower and puts out a fixed amount of air. It takes engineering to design a cam that can make the most of that air. With extremely aggressive ramp rates and high lift (.570) we achieved that with the XPZ which currently holds all M90 power records making 460WHP+ on Zoomer's GTP. The XPZ requires ported heads with machined valve guides, at least a 136# Comp Cams, or 155+# valve spring, Modified retainers, LS7 lifters, ZZP Custom Pushrods, (To determine what length pushrod you will need. We recommend using the 'Lifter Preload' method that can be found on the lifter page. We also recommend purchasing the ZZP Pushrod Length Checker to assist with this.) Rollmaster double timing chain, Extra thick front cover gasket, Machined oil pump cover, and PCM programming. No other cam makes the power of the XPZ in a 3800, period. Idle is similar to the XP with 13 inches of vacuum.  Due to the high lift of this cam, and lack of valve spring options that wont pull the rocker bolts out of the heads, we recommend staying with the stock 1.6 ratio. To run the XPZ cam you need to mill .050 off of the top of the valve guides, and to be extra safe run modified retainers/comp cam retainers

We highly recommend picking up our Cam Install Kit when installing a cam. It comes with all of the basic gaskets that you will need to complete the swap.
