This is our best available header for the supercharged LSJ Cobalt and Ion Redline. It is stainless steel and have 1 3/4" primaries, and is intended for 300+whp supercharged builds. If you are NA, then we recommend our shorty header or the 1 1/2" primary midlength header instead.

  • Stainless steel header
  • 1 3/4" primaries
  • Stainless steel 3/8 header flange
  • Stainless downpipe
  • Tig welded
  • VBand connections
  • High flow cat (optional)
  • O2 Extension
  • Head to Header Gasket
  • Downpipe to Cat-back Gasket

How to order your header/downpipe package:

Transmission: Please select manual or automatic transmission, this determines the proper length of the downpipe.

Downpipe Option: This determines if the downpipe comes with or without a catalytic converter. If the car is driven on the street, then you should order it with a converter.

Catback Flange: This determines what exit flange is installed on the downpipe. If you select "Stock/2.5" then it will come with a 2 1/2" exit flange that will bolt up to the stock catback or most 2 1/2" catback exhausts. If you select "ZZP 3" then it will bolt up to our 3" catback exhaust or most aftermarket 3" catbacks. We do not guaranty fitment on other brand catback exhausts.

Wideband Bung: If you order a downpipe with a cat, then it will come with 1 bung for the rear o2 sensor. If you order it without a cat, then it will come with no o2 bungs. If you have an aftermarket wideband o2 gauge, then you will need to select "add o2 bung for wideband" so you have an extra bung installed for your wideband o2 sensor.

*This header will fit on a 2.2L but can have a clearance issue with a coolant line on the firewall. An easy fix would be to remove the 90 degree turn and connect the hose straight to clear the header.

*06+ Cobalt 2.4L will require a style B O2 extension harness.

ZZP Long tube header install

I purchased the Long Tube Header package as well as the Cat Back 2.5" kit. Other than have to purchase an extra O2 extender, everything went in fine. The fit seems great and it sounds amazing.

ZZP Long tube header

Great product! Very Surprised with the quality of this! Welds looked flawless! Sounds great when paired with ZZP's 3 inch cat-back system with a Resonator and Muffler! Very deep tone that actually sounds good! When Installing, do install through the top of the motor. Definitely recommend to anyone with an LSJ Cobalt will not be disappointed!

issue

The long tube header does what it is supposed to and generally fit the car well with one key exception - and I will add a couple follow up comments. The frustrating part of this install was that the exhaust pipe associated with manifold bolt#9 hard fouled with the nut. I had to dremel off the full ****** of the nut to bolt it up. The pipe in question had an improper alignment type "crown" to it - so that instead of coming out of the manifold plate at 90deg and then down - it came out straight for several mm - and then rose up toward the stud enough to prevent clearance for the nut. Again - I had to fully grind off the full ****** of the nut to fit. Even then - it took a combination of almost forcing the socket of my ratchet and also an open end wrench to get the bolt on - and past what I call the crown of the pipe. Yes - I tried hand installing all 9 bolts 1st to make sure it was not a basic fitment/alignment issue. Another option would be to hammer a dent in the pipe to flatten it down to provide localized clearance. But - once I had the header generally in position on the engine - I was reluctant to fully remove it from the car to hammer on it. There was another issue with the manifold gasket but partly my fault. I bought the long tube header along with a much larger order that arrived all at once. Basically - I discovered the new exhaust manifold gasket in the ZZP S3 heat exchanger box several days after installing the header. So - I uninstalled and reinstalled the header using the new gasket – dealing with the same bolt again. Lesson learned - do a full inventory of everything that is shipped - and open everything. Another detail is that for my install - I absolutely needed two O2 extension wiring harnesses. I asked support whether I needed a second harness but was not given an affirmative answer. Fortunately, I was suspicious about needing a 2nd O2 wiring extension - and I did order it. Yes - for the 2006 cobalt ss/sc when converting from stock to this long tube header – you will need two O2 wiring harness extensions. Finally – this package needs a written instruction/install manual. The order of removing and installing the 10 manifold bolts and spec tq is important – but not provided. It would also be helpful to have any tips on the install. For example – after installing/uninstalling the manifold 3 times – I eventually found bolt#7 and #8 much easier to install from under the car. If the manual instructed to use the newly provided gasket – then that would also be helpful. In summary – got it on. With all the other bolt-ons – significant performance gains.
